Some complaints regarding this Zojirushi model include: the time it takes to cook rice, the nearly $300 price tag, and its failure to live long past its expiration date.
Capacity: With most Zojirushi rice cookers, you’re always going to have two options: 1 Liter or 1.8 Liter. This is no different. However, the actual bulk of this is worth noting as it measures about 15.5” x 11” x 9.5” and weighs 11 pounds—making it a beast of an appliance to have to store in your kitchen. Make sure you have the space for it!
Settings: This rice cooker has most of the usual settings for a higher end rice cooker—it’s got the delayed cook, auto-warming, and a whole host of rice preparation settings. However, the biggest sell for this one is its healthy brown rice setting. Brown rice can often be very difficult to cook, but this cooker handles it flawlessly.
Versatility: As is the case the with Zojirushi rice cookers, this product is strictly meant for rice—rice of all types, of course. Many types of rice cookers try to be everything to all kinds of food, but this one knows what it does best.
Quality: While there are some previous users who have noted that the rice cooker is not as “long lasting” as advertised, most have not had that experience. It currently has a 90% 5-star rating on Amazon, with only 1% of consumers reporting any sort of grievance with it.
Price: $285 does seem like a lot for a rice cooker. However, if this is a regular part of your cooking routine and you prefer a more hands-off approach to preparing rice, this rice cooker will be well worth the investment.
