Tabasco is a baby on the Scoville scale, ranging between 2500-5000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). For reference, a green bell pepper features 0 SHU. The hottest pepper in the world (the Carolina Reaper) carries 2 million SHU, and pure capsaicin is 16 million SHU. But, that doesn't mean Tabasco isn't good. It's marvellous on everything - from eggs to mild Bloody Mary's. If you're not ready to call yourself a chili head; start here.
