Sea to Summit Spark Sp II

Best Ultralight Sleeping Bag

Why people love it

  • Minimal pack down size
  • Extremely light weight
  • Warm

This ultralight sleeping bag takes minimal volume in your pack. Though not as cold-resistant as other sleeping bags, it’s a solid choice for 3-season camping.

Some users find the 1/3-zipper to be an irritation and many will find this quite expensive.

Details

Okay, we know this one is too expensive for occasional campers. But, if you’re the backpacking and mountaineering type, you’re going to love this 3-season ultralight sleeping bag. Besides being wonderfully waterproof, it’s not going to drag you down the way other sleepers will.

If you get the regular size (there’s also a long available), you’ll add just over a pound to your pack’s weight. And, it compresses to a mere 3.3L of space. That’s nothing compared to competitive products.

On the downside, the lower temperature limit is 35ºF and you’re unlikely to find this comfortable below 44ºF. Of course, you can always purchase the optional sleeping bag liner to bring those temperature ratings down a bit. And, if you’re serious about camping, you’ll probably do that anyhow.

Fill or insulation type: 850-fill goose down in a ripstop nylon shell.

Temperature rating: The EN lower limit is 35ºF and the EN comfort temperature is 44ºF.

Water resistant: Water-resistant shell with a water-repellent polymer applied to the down to absorb 30% less water than untreated down.

Shape, size, and weight: This sleeping bag is mummy shape. The regular measures 72”L x 57”W (shoulder), 50” (hip), and weighs 1lb 0.4oz. The long measures 79”L x 60” (shoulder), 52” (hip), and weighs 1lb 2oz. Finally, the pack down size is 5” x 10” (3.3L).

Colors available: White.

Price: The MSRP is $379.00 - $399.00 and you should expect to pay about that much.
