- Dark, rich, bold flavor
- Perfect for espressos
- Fast, quality shipping
This has all the bitter flavor that serious coffee drinkers love and it makes an almost perfect espresso. It’s the most intense the brand has to offer.
Apart from a few damaged pods (due to shipping issues) – and the price, nothing at all.
When only the most intense will do - you know for those ultra-diligent workers or for the morning after a long night of fun - this should be the Nespresso capsule you turn to.
We know the price is prohibitive, but they’re really packed the best two Robustas available into each pod. And, you’ll taste it.
On that note, we must warn you that it’s not for everyone. Anyone whose happy with lighter roasts should probably walk away; this is the ultimate in intensity and there is a whole lot of bitterness going on as well.
The manufacturer believes it’s suitable for both ristrettos and espressos, but we say the latter rocks our world. And, it’s not a bad base for a super flavorful Americano either.
Pod type: Nespresso OriginalLine
Beans, roast, and origins: This ultra-dark roast is a combination of Guatemalan and Brazilian Robustas and the mix is amazingly intense. Might we go so far as to say in.cred.i.ble.
Flavor and aroma notes: Okay, okay, this isn’t for the faint-hearted, casual coffee drinker – not at all. The flavor is super rich and quite bitter. As one reviewer states, "the extreme bitterness hits you right away, and it doesn't fade. But it's not bitter for its own sake." If you’re after that, along with the peppery notes that come with it, you’re in for a treat.
Price: At $11.50 for a pack of 10, these are the most expensive Nespresso pods on the list. But, if you’re after serious intensity, you should also expect to pay a little more. And, there’s a big part of us that’s tempted to just call it value for money; we’ll let you decide.
