The new Kindle is not so much a seismic shift forward as it is a seemingly fervent - and some might say desperate - attempt by Amazon to keep up with the competition.

The Basics:
        6-inch, pearl e-paper display
        6.65 ounces
        4GB storage
Up to four weeks of battery life during normal use
The Good:
Faster processor translates to better performance
        Thin, light design
The Bad:
We miss the dependable page turn buttons
Less comfortable for the hand than 2013 Kindle
The Ugly:
Way too heavy compared to its predecessor
        Larger both horizontally and vertically
        Somewhat awkward to hold
