Whether you’re headed out for a formal event on the weekend or attending a wedding, you can simplify your trip by packing your suit in your carry on.
We all know how cumbersome garment bags can be during trips. They’re bulky, big, and you never know where to hang them.
Thankfully Erik Tamayo, AKA Hueguh on Youtube, teaches us how we can skip the garment bag and store our formal suits in our carry-ons.
In his video, Erik suggests packing your non-negotiables first in a small pouch. His second tip is to pack versatile clothing, like denim jeans and a white button down shirt.
For the suit, he suggests packing the heavier items on the bottom so they don’t crease your suit.
First, pack your dress shoes. Add the neatly-folded denim, button down shirt, and extra shirt on top. Fill in the empty gaps with your socks and underwear, then add your suit and trousers.
Then, place your pocket square in the pocket of your shirt. Fold your jacket and trousers wrapped around each other to avoid creasing.
Third, insert your belt in the dress shirt’s neckline to preserve its structure. Add your tie in the middle, add the dress shirt on top of your suit and trousers, then add everything in the bag.
Finally, add in your accessories. Now zip up your carry on and voila! You’re all set for the weekend’s festivities.
