If you are transiting though a major airport and they've started grounding flights, you aren't going to get on the next one any time soon. And the hotel rooms nearby will fill up quickly. Unless you're prepared to camp on the floor, huddled with strangers and fighting for your turn at the scattering of plugs available, you need to book a room as fast as you can.
Get out of the line to rebook your flight - the airline will get to you when they get to you. Instead, head to the hotel booking desk as soon as you can if:
- Yours was the last flight of the day, or
- It's obvious that the airport is backed up.
Of course, you can always use those last minute hotel booking apps you loaded on your phone ages ago. However you do it, you'll be a lot happier at a hotel than in the airport.
