If you store this thermometer in a cool area, you will need to wait a few minutes before using it at room temperature. And, using it in large open spaces can also impact the reading.

Details

As far as temporal thermometers are concerned, this is one of the best. All you need to do is run it over your child’s forehead to get an accurate reading. That’s a big plus. And, it means – except for replacement batteries – you won’t need to make further investments with this thermometer. There’s no need for tip covers, and let’s face it, you won’t often need to replace those batteries – so it’s affordable. There aren’t many features, but it does what it does well.

Okay, we know it's a little difficult to get the hang of using this thermometer, but it's worth it. Most users believe it's a game-changer. And, the folks at Consumer Search believe it's the best possible baby thermometer out there. It also carries an exceptionally high rating on Consumer Reports. And, as you saw in the intro, this was the thermometer recommended by a pediatrician on the Today Show a few years ago.

If you need a thermometer for children over three months, you want to consider this one seriously.

Type of thermometer: Temporal

Age recommendation: Not for newborns; this thermometer is recommended for babies over three months.

Power source: You’ll need a 9-volt battery – and one is included for use out of the package.

Reading time: The reading only takes seconds and a red LED light along with a (soft) beep will indicate whether you’ve correctly captured the temporal artery reading.

Cleaning instructions: This entirely non-invasive thermometer doesn’t require covers. And, the silver ion antimicrobial head naturally destroys bacteria and repels fungi and mildew. That said, you really do need to give any health equipment a clean after use.

Getting an accurate reading: The cool thing about this thermometer is the way it provides its readings. It takes 1000 readings in a second and selects the most accurate through an advanced algorithm.

Smart features: Nope. What you see is what you get.

Other features: This isn’t a feature-heavy thermometer, but we think that’s a good thing. After all, these temporal thermometers really need to focus on the job they’re supposed to do.

Will it break the bank? At $30, this is a wonderfully affordable thermometer. Sure, it’s on the high-end of affordable, but it’s convenient.
