No one wants to do this household chore, but there will likely be a time when you need to. In fact, if you’re using HVAC filters, then you should be doing this every few months. Sometimes you may need to do it as often as once a month. After awhile, this will become second nature, but you may need a few tips to get it right the first time around.
Don’t be a fool; switch off the unit before you inspect it. Another silly mistake is buying the wrong filters for your HVAC unit. Of course, you can buy cheaper filters (with the expectation of changing them frequently), but they’ve got to be the right for your equipment.
When you’re ready to change your filter, start by removing the old one and then expect the new one to ensure it’s not damaged. Use a cloth to remove any residual dust before installing the new filter. Ensure you’re following the color guidelines that show you the direction to place the filters. Replace levers and gaskets. Check that they aren’t any gaps and then close the unit and switch it back on.
