After 19 hours of research evaluating 34 products, we picked Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 Upright Vacuum as our top choice.

Get this: some 200,000 bacteria live in every square inch of carpet - including some you don’t want floating around your home.

It doesn’t matter whether you have carpets or hardwood… you’ll need to clean them at some point. That’s probably why you’re looking for the best Dyson vacuum for your place.

Of course, what makes a vacuum the best varies from person to person and home to home. Some people can get away with a robotic vacuum running between deeper cleans; others (especially those with pets) need to pull out their full-sized vacuums daily.

What makes Dyson special?

In addition to releasing the first bag-free vacuum cleaners, they’re usually equipped with lifetime or whole machine HEPA filters.

And that’s before considering the obvious: the best Dyson vacuum cleaners have unparalleled suction. Users can’t stop raving about the crazy amounts of dust and debris their machines pick up - even after vacuuming with another unit first.

We should know, we read thousands of Dyson vacuum reviews from real users and testers.

Take a look at every option; sometimes the best one for you is a complete surprise (like the number of nasties living underneath your feet).

Why trust us: Faveable has spent thousands of hours researching, interviewing experts, and testing products to come up with carefully selected lists trusted by millions of consumers since 2013.

Why People Love it

  • The suction is truly phenomenal
  • Great for pet hair and larger debris
  • Useful attachments and extra long cord

  • No filters to wash - ever
  • A super, super long cord
  • Easy-release wand
  • Can be noisy
  • Need some help getting all the hair from the canister
  • Can overheat when used for too long

If you have pets, you really need to take a look at this vacuum; it’s super powerful and wonderfully easy to use.

As it's a Dyson Animal vacuum, it picks up the pet dander, dirt from paws, and all that hair with ease.

And, because it falls in the big ball range, it has superior maneuverability. This, along with the quick-release wand and extension hose, makes it easy to get everywhere (just like your pet's hair).

Various brushes work across various surfaces, and you can get rid of dust and mites from your mattresses and couches, which is helpful even when your pets aren’t allowed on your furniture. All of the accessories, including the combination and stair tools, store easily in the bag that comes with this Dyson Animal vacuum.

We’re especially fond of the wide suction surface and the incredibly long cord, but we do wish this was a little lighter and definitely cheaper. Sadly, it’s also not the quietest, but it is the best choice for anyone that wants to live safely and cleanly with pets in the house.

Best Dyson Canister Vacuum

Dyson Ball Multifloor Canister Vacuum

Why People Love it

  • The most amazing suction of all time
  • Great for hard floors and walls
  • Easy to use with brilliant attachments

  • Rights itself when toppled
  • Adaptor for using older model attachments
  • Easy dirt extraction
  • Expensive
  • Too strong for some rugs and carpets

You might be used to upright vacuums, but there are a few good reasons to make the switch to a canister vacuum.

Firstly, these vacuums are easy to maneuver as your dragging rather than pushing the bulk of the machine around as you work.

But, perhaps more importantly, you don’t need to make the switch to attachments when you want to work around furniture or get underneath pieces that sit a little higher off the ground. (Plus, this one has excellent suction power at the edges.)

Together, these make canister vacuums brilliant for homes with a lot of obstacles. With the core components placed in the ball, you really can turn and work quickly.

And with this Dyson canister vacuum, you don’t need to worry about the machine toppling all over the place when you work quickly; it will right itself when that happens, a feature that sets this Dyson apart from competitive brands.

We’re especially fond of the extra attachment you get that allows you to use accessories from older models (and some other brands) with this machine. The retractable cord is another benefit, though it could be longer.

With all the benefits, we feel obliged to mention that this is a heavier machine, which means it’s not necessarily ideal for anyone that hates lugging vacuums up and down the stairs unless it will live semi-permanently on one floor. But, in no way do we think that’s a deal-breaker for this vacuum; it’s one of the best Dyson has ever made.

Best Dyson Handheld Vacuum

#5

Dyson V6 Trigger

Best Dyson Handheld Vacuum: Dyson V6 Trigger

Why People Love it

  • Perfect for quick cleanups
  • Powerful suction (but still easy to use)
  • Decent battery life

  • Ergonomic, comfortable to hold
  • Easy to empty
  • Super strong for a handheld
  • Short battery life
  • Doesn't come with a wall mount

Dyson does a range of handheld vacuums; there are five - but the only difference between them is the attachments that come with each model.

In addition to the V6 Trigger (which is the base model), you’ll find:

  • V6 Baby + Child
  • V6 Top Dog
  • V6 Car + Boat
  • V6 Mattress

Since the specs of the V6 Trigger are the same as the others, it’s fair to question including any Dyson handheld models at all.

The answer is simple; if you need a handheld vacuum, you want to get a Dyson - they are leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. No matter which variant you go with, or the accessories you use (the V6 Trigger only comes with a crevice attachment), these are maybe the only handheld vacuums that actually pick up everything they’re meant to.

If you really want to, it’s possible to pick from the V7 range, but the difference between the two, given the types of jobs handhelds are meant to tackle, tends to boil down to price. (Perhaps later editions will have more substantial developments.) Though, you can get a little extra cleaning time from the newer model.

The one thing that we would really change about this handheld Dyson vacuum is the inclusion of a wall mount. But, this isn’t a deal breaker for most users as the 6’ cord makes it easy to find a convenient charging area.

  • Flooring types: Small jobs

Dyson V7 Motorhead Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner

Why People Love it

  • Lightweight
  • Good for hard floors and low carpets
  • Incredible suction

  • Lightweight (and well-distributed weight)
  • Affordable for a Dyson vacuum
  • Docking station holds accessories
  • Short battery life
  • Small, basic cleaning head

We’re not going to pretend this is the best Dyson vacuum for everyone; it’s not. But if you really want a powerful, but lightweight Dyson (with all the sucking power this brand is known for), this budget option does more than the price tag would suggest.

It works with a trigger rather than an on/off switch, but that does help to maintain battery power for this vacuum (which is important given the limited battery life of this model - somewhere around 20 minutes).

The weight - and the distribution of it - makes this a contender for the best lightweight vacuum out there. And that works hand-in-hand with the mountable docking station, which conveniently holds the crevice and multitool attachments; you won’t struggle to carry this up and down stairs to put it away.

Unfortunately, the small capacity of this Dyson vacuum means you’ll spend some time emptying the dustbin during your first several cleans. But, as long as you don’t have a busy home and you vacuum often-enough, you won’t spend as much time emptying as time passes.

Best Dyson Cordless Vacuum

#3

Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner

Best Dyson Cordless Vacuum: Dyson V8 Absolute Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner

Why People Love it

  • Good run time from charge
  • Lightweight
  • Great suction for dust of all sorts

  • Lightweight
  • Advanced cleaning heads
  • Settings for large and small debris
  • Price
  • No storage for accessories

This is easily one of the best lightweight vacuum options on the market, making it a strong choice for multi-story homes that only want one vacuum. That said, it may not be the best for homes with pets or loads of people living in it; the capacity of any stick vacuum just works against those conditions.

That said, the soft roller cleaning head (which is one of two, making this suitable for all surface types) does a fantastic job of picking up both small and large debris, so you can use it as a broom as well as a vacuum. And, it seems to be as quiet as sweeping too.

There are two power modes, which means you can obtain a thorough clean - even in high-traffic areas, but you should know that using the MAX mode will reduce the time you can spend cleaning before you need to recharge (which takes about four hours).

The docking station is wall-mountable, which many users find helpful. But, it doesn’t have enough storage space for all of the accessories, which are enough to tackle just about every cleaning job you can imagine.

Considering its status as one of the best lightweight vacuums - Dyson or otherwise - the stick release for conversion to a handheld is useful. But there are those that don’t like having to hold the pistol grip while working.

With the increased suction power from previous models and the easy release of the dustbin, this is definitely the best stick vacuum on the market; if this type of vacuum is right for your home, this is the one you want.

Best Dyson Upright Vacuum

#2

Dyson Ball Animal 2 Upright Vacuum

Best Dyson Upright Vacuum: Dyson Ball Animal 2 Upright Vacuum

Why People Love it

  • Amazing suction
  • Brilliant for people with pets
  • Easy to assemble and maintain

  • Super long retractable cord
  • Impressive 270 AW suction
  • Large capacity
  • Not good for ultra-plush carpets
  • The hose is trickier to work with than desired

We know this vacuum falls in the Dyson animal range, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t get it, even if you don’t have any pets. The crazy amount of suction you get with this machine makes it ideal for households with small children - and for those that track a lot of dirt in.

While the self-adjusting cleaning head should make it easy to move from hard-surface floors to carpeting, the suction is so strong that some users find it easier to switch the machine off and back on when moving between surfaces. But, you won’t have to do too much unplugging to reach across rooms; the cord is 31’ (which is rather impressive).

The quick-release wand is easy to use, but a little tricky to put back in...which is a shame. But, as far as upright Dyson animal vacuums go, you may not need to use the release too much for standard cleans - as the suction power pulls from the edges better than most.

Accessories include a stair tool, combination tool, and a tangle-free turbine tool - and there’s an extra-large capacity. Unlike other machines, there’s a single wheel housing which can take a little getting used to, but the low center of gravity it gives makes it easy to maneuver (despite its weight).

  • Flooring types: All, but it isn't great on plush carpeting

  • Cord: 35', retractable

Why People Love it

  • Seriously strong suction power
  • Lightweight (enough for multi-story homes)
  • Easy maneuverability

  • Large capacity in a lightweight, compact design
  • Remarkably strong suction
  • Easy to clean and maintain
  • Attachments and hose aren't as easy to use as they could be
  • Not great on high-pile carpeting

There are several reasons this is currently the best Dyson vacuum you can get. So, let’s get into it…

It’s an upright vacuum which is the type that people are generally most comfortable using; and while we encourage you to look at the canister and stick options on this list, if you’re happiest with an upright, that’s good too.

As far as full-size upright vacuums go, this is a couple of pounds lighter than many models, making it easier to haul up and down the stairs - and if you’re going to pay this much for a vacuum, you probably don’t want to splurge on more than one.

On that note, you should also consider the pricing; even the MSRP puts this ahead of other models - and you can usually find it cheaper than that on Amazon. For a Dyson, this model is more than reasonably priced.

The vacuum head is self-adjusting and wide enough for fast cleaning, plus the suction is wonderfully strong without being overpowering.

Between the accessories and brushes, you can clean just about every surface with ease, though the extension hose is a little on the crazy powerful side. (It does, however, store within itself to minimize storage space.)

The cord is wonderfully long, so you can get your work done quickly without having to stop every couple of minutes to reposition yourself. And, the dirt canister is large and easy to empty.

When you add it all together, you’re sitting with a powerful yet reasonably-priced vacuum that’s more than capable across floors and living conditions. Plus, it comes with the warranties and customer service that Dyson is known for.
