Bridgeton has definitely taken Netflix viewers by storm with its interesting story plot, well-designed sets, amazing actors, and beautiful costumes.
Set in England’s regency period of 1813, Bridgerton is the story of the Bridgerton family’s attempt to find love.
“We knew how important wardrobe was, so we went to the best,” exclaims the show’s creator and showrunner, Chris Van Dusen.
Costume Designer Ellen Mirojnick, who accepted the difficult task, explains how she wanted the costumes to be an overview of how they could add modern elements to classic designs.
Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, says “It’s regency with a twist! Everything is bold and beautiful.”
Ellen Mirojnick’s vision was to make the costumes more luxurious and more sumptuous by using a modern color palette but still adhering to the basic foundation of the 1813 silhouette.
With around 7,500 handmade pieces for the show, designer Ellen Mirojnick succeeds in establishing an unparalleled visual identity for Bridgerton with her great attention to detail.
She made sure the costumes served their purpose, not just for aesthetic value but to also shape each character’s identity.
“The show offered a great challenge and a great delight at the same time,” says Ellen Mirojnick.
