If you suffer from sensitive skin, grooming your beard can be an aggravating and unpleasant experience. Good thing Youtuber Jordan O’Brien, in partnership with King C Gilette, teaches viewers with sensitive skin 5 tips how to groom their beard.
O’Brien’s key first step to avoid irritation is cleansing his beard and face using King C Gilette’s Beard and Face Wash.
“You don’t wanna start shaving your face while your face is dirty or else all of the dirt, bacteria, and grime throughout the day is going to get into your pores and cause the irritation and the bumps you’re going to experience afterwards,” notes O’Brien.
O’Brien then proceeds to trim his beard with a trimmer to clean up loose hairs on the chin and neck. He explains how the process will shape your beard and give it a more graduated effect.
His third step is defining the line. Using the trimmer, clean up the hair exactly where your jawline meets the neck.
To continue to step 4, take a clear transparent shaving gel and spread all over the place you trimmed in step 3. Using a good razor, begin to clean up the area.
“The most important thing is to shave in the direction your hair grows, never against the grain. That is where you’ll get the skin irritation, the bumps, and the cut,” says O’Brien.
Lastly, O’Brien suggests using an oil to finish your grooming routine. This kills two birds with one stone as it will nourish and moisturize your skin, as well as condition your beard.
